A Hagerstown woman
indicted earlier this year on charges of sexually abusing two children
was ordered to stay off social media Thursday after one of the alleged
victims received what could have been a message from her through a
smartphone app.
Reina Portillo, 47,
was indicted earlier this year on multiple counts of sexual abuse of a
minor and third-degree sex offense, and one count of fourth-degree sex
offense, according to court reco

rds.
The indictment alleges that the abuse occurred from 2011 until the spring of this year.
In July, Portillo posted a $50,000 bond and was released pending trial, court records said.
In August, a warrant was issued for Portillo for violating her pretrial supervision, court records said.
The hearing was held Thursday on a defense motion to reinstate her bond.
Defense attorney Dino Flores told
Circuit Judge M. Kenneth Long Jr. that the victim contacted the
Washington County State's Attorney's Office after receiving a message
from Portillo's messaging account that said: "Glad to see you back on
Tango."
Flores said that the message came
from his client's account, but he could offer testimony that Portillo's
account had been inactive after her arrest. When reactivated, it sent
out an "electronically generated message" to all those on her friends
list, he said.
The message was in English, and
Portillo only communicates in Spanish on social media, Flores said,
offering screen shots for the judge to see.
Flores said he would advise Portillo "to delete the Tango app from her phone."
Long reinstated Portillo's bond, but instructed her to delete the app and "refrain from any social media interaction."
